The new pending world record bull moose
was taken two years ago at 84 inches.
The Alaska state average harvest for
moose by non resident, non guided hunters is approximately 15%. Our camps
have been approximately 50% depending on the the condition and skill of
the hunters.
The season begins Sept 5 in this area
and runs for 10 days through Sept. 15. We like hunters to be in Dillingham
early on Sept 4 so they can get camp setup and ready for the hunt.
The above price includes air transfers
from Anchorage to Dillingham and to camp round trip. Also included is
transfer of all meat, cape and antlers back to Dillingham. At Dillingham
we include a sheltered place to bone out your meat and turn over the meat
you want, your cape and antlers to a freight forwarder for shipment home.
Since 911 you can no longer ship any parts of your kill via commercial
airlines. If you choose to donate any part of your meat to local natives
it can be arranged.
You will be responsible for any
overnight stays and meals in Anchorage or Dillingham depending on your
airline connections. You will furnish a non resident hunting license and
moose tag. Black bears frequent the area and can be taken without a guide
if you choose to furnish a black bear tag. This is a self guided hunt, a
registered guide is required for brown bear hunting so hunting for brown
bear is not allowed on this hunt. On some years there are also limited
caribou in the area.
This is not a guided camp!!! You rent
the camp, buy the food and hire the cook. This is for your convenience so
you can enjoy more time hunting or fishing with only limited camp chores.
All this is part of the package price listed above. Meals are first class
with most hunters commenting they have never had better meals in a hunting
camp.
We also have a non guided caribou hunt
available similar to the above moose hunt either in the Mulchatna or
Kotzebue areas depending on herd populations priced at $3,995.
Wolves also frequent the area and you
never know when they might be seen. A non resident wolf tag is available
for $50 and you can harvest them unguided.
We can arrange for a fully guided
Moose Hunt priced @ $10,000 p/p
We can arrange for a fully guided
spring or fall Brown Bear hunts @ $15,000 p/p
We can arrange for a fully guided
Caribou hunt priced @ $5,500 p/p
All hunts above are subject to
availability and prices are subject to change due to air line and float
plane rates. The prices above are all calculated on current air transfer
rates as of Sept 2007.
It is possible to hunt Black Bear,
Caribou, and Moose without a guide in Alaska. A guide is required however
for Brown Bear, Grizzly Bear, Dall Sheep, Musk Ox, and Mountain Goat.
I recommend hunters be in good physical
shape and condition before attempting a hunt in Alaska. The hunting
landscape in Alaska is much more difficult than any other place I've ever
hunted. Long distance logistics, lots of water and swampy areas, steep
treacherous mountains, and the uneven spongy tundra, etc can make for
tough going.

UNGUIDED/FULLY OUTFITTED-SUPER CUB-TUNDRA-DROP
OFF
This type of hunt is my favorite for Caribou and is becoming more popular
every year. This hunt is usually done by a licensed guide and outfitter
who has several contract super cub bush pilots doing most of the flying. A
fully outfitted camp is provided including, Cabela's Alaskan Guide six-man
tent, stove and propane, lantern, cooking and eating utensils, sleeping
cots, sleeping pads, folding table and chairs, good drinking water, dish
soap, towels, a good menu of food, cookies, candy bars, and some soft
drinks. Guests are flown from Anchorage by air charter to Port Allsworth.
Super cub pilots then pick you up and transfer you into the field for a
tundra drop-off wherever the Caribou migration will be at the time of your
arrival. Camp and food will be awaiting or flown into you that day. You'll
have plenty of time to set up camp as it is against the law to fly and
shoot the same day. A flag system is explained to you so everyday when
pilots fly over they can tell what your situation is. A green flag means
everything is great with you. A yellow flag means you have meat ready to
fly out or there is some problem and you need help. A red flag means you
have a medical emergency. If the Caribou migration changes you will be
moved to another location. A second Caribou is possible, but would require
another non-resident tag and $500 for an extra meat, cape and antler haul.
Upon returning to Port Allsworth meat and cape are prepared and boxed in
airline approved shipping boxes for flights home. Rubber pieces are taped
on all points of your antlers for approved airline freight requirements.
You are then loaded into a charter flight back to Anchorage for your
return home. This hunt is well organized and performed. There is a weight
limit on personal gear of 50 lbs and you will be charged $3 a pound for
any personal gear over 50 lbs (not including your hunting weapon and
carrying case). It's not difficult to meet the 50 lb. weight limit since
you don't have to pack a camp and groceries. New Regulations for
Non-Resident hunters require caribou hunts to be concluded by Sept 15th in
this area.
Rates for unguided/outfitted Tundra
Drop off hunts from Port Allsworth (Lake Clark)
Trophy Caribou 6 days $3,995.00 each
A special charter flight from Anchorage to Port Allsworth is included
round trip back to Anchorage with meat, cape and antlers. Because of 911
all meat, cape and antlers must be turned over to a freight forwarder for
shipment back to your home base.
OUTFITTED/UNGUIDED OR GUIDED COASTAL SALTWATER BLACK BEAR HUNTS.
These hunts take place from Whittier, Seward or Homer by charter boat
that would cruise the shore lines, bays, coves throughout the Kenai
Fjords, and Prince William Sound. After a bear is located you can access
the shore by small skiff to begin your stock. Meals and lodging are
conducted aboard the main vessel or a camp on shore. During certain
selected seasons of the year, fishing and waterfowl hunting could be a
bonus. Some areas of the Prince William Sound also have populations of
Black Tail Deer. If desired a guide could be made available for a coastal
Mountain Goat hunt. Prices for these hunts depend on number of hunters
with a minimum of two required and a maximum of six and length of stay.
Seasons are spring and fall. (Spring is the most popular)
*SPECIAL SPRING BLACK BEAR PRINCE
WILLIAM SOUND

Black Bear Sept 1st – May 31st some units may vary
Wolf check regulations
*HUNTING/FISHING COMBO
We can arrange for add on fishing for Salmon/Halibut/Trophy Rainbow as a
supplement to your hunt on the Kenai Peninsula.
Al l guides require a 50 % deposit to book your Trophy Hunt and would
require final payment 60 days prior to arrival.
General Moose populations and Caribou numbers are being severely impacted
by over populations of Wolf packs and excessive Grizzly’s. We therefore
encourage Wolf and Grizzly harvest to bring back populations of game for
better hunting. Its to bad hunters are being solely blamed for downturn
numbers, but we know hunters harvest far less numbers than do predatory
rivals.
